Our client, a Global Fortune 50 organization and one of world’s largest distributors of healthcare systems, Medical supplies & Pharmaceutical products, seeks an accomplished Certified Pharmacy Technician

Position: Certified Pharmacy Technician

Location: West Sacramento, CA 95605

Duration: 3 months Contract with potential for temp-to-hire conversion

Work Type: Onsite

Pay Rate: $26/hour

Schedule: Monday–Friday; after 4 weeks, schedule may change to Sunday–Thursday based on business needs (Sunday: 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, Monday–Thursday: 1:30 PM–10:00 PM). Mandatory overtime may be required.

Overview

We are seeking a Pharmacy Technician to accurately and efficiently fill prescription requests in a high-volume automated refill environment. Under the supervision of a Pharmacist, this individual will prepare, package, and distribute medications in a fast-paced production setting while maintaining precision, focus, and compliance with all quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately fill prescription vials with prescribed tablets and capsules according to computer-generated instructions.
• Perform basic mathematical calculations to determine correct medication quantities.
• Replenish automated dispensing cells, scanning product barcodes and entering expiration and lot details.
• Conduct quality assurance checks for expired or damaged products to prevent cross-contamination.
• Assist with inventory audits and weekly cycle counts, including root cause analysis for discrepancies.
• Prepare and handle cold chain and specialty prescriptions according to proper handling and packing protocols.
• Support packing and shipping operations while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and patient privacy requirements.
• Identify and escalate workflow or process issues to management as needed.

Qualifications

Education & Licensure

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Active California Pharmacy Technician License required
• PTCB National Certification preferred

Experience

• Minimum 1 year of pharmacy technician experience in a pharmacy, retail, or customer service setting (Externships and academic programs not counted toward experience requirement)

Skills & Competencies

• Knowledge of federal and state HIPAA laws
• Strong attention to detail and ability to perform repetitive tasks with accuracy
• Ability to follow verbal instructions and multitask efficiently under time pressure
• Basic math and computer proficiency, including barcode scanning
• Ability to operate pallet jacks and hand trucks/dollies
• Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills
