Position Overview

We’re seeking a Tax Preparer to join our dynamic accounting team. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of federal and state tax codes, exceptional attention to detail, and a passion for helping clients maximize their financial outcomes. You’ll work closely with clients to prepare and file accurate tax returns, provide expert guidance, and ensure compliance with all tax regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and file federal, state, and local income tax returns for individuals and businesses.

  • Review financial records such as income statements and documentation of expenditures to determine appropriate forms and deductions.

  • Communicate with clients to gather necessary information and answer tax-related questions.

  • Stay current with changes in tax laws, regulations, and filing requirements.

  • Ensure all filings meet deadlines and accuracy standards.

  • Assist in resolving IRS or state tax notices and discrepancies.

  • Maintain organized and confidential client records.

  • Collaborate with other accounting professionals within the firm to support broader financial services.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Tax Preparer or similar role (2+ years preferred).

  • Current PTIN (Preparer Tax Identification Number) required.

  • CPA, EA, or AFSP credential preferred but not required.

  • Strong knowledge of tax preparation software (e.g., Drake, Lacerte, ProSeries, or similar).

  • Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.

  • Ability to communicate complex tax information clearly to clients.

  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards.
