KitchenSync is revolutionizing restaurant bookkeeping and accounting by automating manual processes and delivering real-time operational insights. Our platform integrates seamlessly with QuickBooks Online (QBO) and other accounting systems to streamline financial workflows for restaurant operators and their accountants. Note: We offer a salary starting at $130,000 USD, adjustable depending on your experience and the state you live in

Position Overview

Role & Location: Senior/Principal Software Engineer on a fully remote U.S. team, reporting to the VP of Engineering; full‑stack position contributing across frontend and backend.

Tech Stack: Node.js / TypeScript (backend), React (frontend), MySQL (database), and Google Cloud (Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, Pub/Sub); CI/CD via GitLab pipelines. Open AI Integration.

Agile: Single cross‑functional Scrum team on a weekly cadence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and own end‑to‑end features across React frontends and Node.js/TypeScript services.
• Define API contracts, build resilient RESTful services, and ensure high availability, observability, and performance.
• Embed AI‑powered capabilities and tooling (prompt engineering, automated tests, evaluations) to boost product value and developer productivity.
• Model strong engineering practices: code reviews, testing strategies, CI/CD, and secure design.
• Shape MySQL schemas/queries, handle migrations, and enforce data integrity.
• Own DevOps on GitLab pipelines and Google Cloud infrastructure.

Qualifications:

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, with substantive full‑stack work across frontend (React) and backend (Node.js/TypeScript).
• Demonstrated ability to deploy and operate production services on Google Cloud (or similar).
• Hands‑on LLM integrations—prompt design, evaluation/guardrails, and API orchestration—and experience with AI‑assisted coding tools is a plus
• Excellent written/verbal communication to collaborate with distributed teams.
• Strong ownership mindset: able to drive end‑to‑end solutions, mentor peers, and enforce best practices in code reviews and testing.
