Job Description

Build What Serves Communities

Public buildings shape the daily experience of civic life from fire stations and city halls to police and public safety facilities.

We’re looking for a Civic Project Architect who has civic project experience and is motivated by designing spaces that foster trust, safety, and connection within the communities they serve.

This is an opportunity to take the lead on meaningful projects that become lasting buildings of civic identity.

What You’ll Lead:

  • Direct the planning, design, and execution of municipal and public safety projects from concept through construction.
  • Serve as the day-to-day client contact, guiding conversations around scope, schedule, and budget while balancing design quality and performance.
  • Collaborate with city agencies, facility managers, and engineering partners to deliver responsive, buildable solutions.
  • Oversee project documentation, detailing, and technical accuracy across all phases.
  • Mentor design teams, fostering a collaborative environment that values precision and creativity.
  • Apply knowledge of zoning, accessibility, energy codes, and public building requirements to ensure compliance and long-term efficiency.
  • Participate in interviews and community engagement meetings, representing the design vision and the firm’s commitment to civic excellence.

What You Bring:

  • 10+ years of architectural experience, part of which includes work on civic, municipal, or institutional projects.
  • Professional degree in Architecture; architectural registration in Minnesota (AIA).
  • Proficiency in Revit, knowledge of construction documentation, and comfort managing multi-disciplinary teams.
  • A talent for balancing big-picture design thinking with detail-oriented execution.
  • Familiarity with public sector design processes, including permitting and funding requirements.
  • Strong coordination, communication, and leadership skills.

What You’ll Gain:

  • The most competitive compensation offered in the Minnesota architecture market.
  • Full and comprehensive benefits.
  • Partner-track career potential in a growing, design-driven firm.
  • Flexibility in work location and schedule.
  • Opportunities to define the design standards for civic work across the firm.
  • A role where architectural impact directly supports the public good.
