Entry-Level CAD Designer / Project Coordinator – Storage Rack Systems

Location: Winsted, MN (hybrid)

Job Type: Full-time | Travel up to 50% (30% same-day local, 20% overnight)

About the Role:

We are looking for a motivated entry-level CAD Designer / Project Coordinator to join our team in Winsted, MN. In this role, you will support the design and coordination of warehouse storage rack systems. This position is ideal for someone who has strong CAD drafting skills, enjoys problem-solving, and wants to gain hands-on project management experience in material handling and warehouse design. The role requires up to 50% travel, including local same-day site visits and some overnight travel for project support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create 2D and 3D CAD drawings for pallet rack storage systems and warehouse layouts.
• Assist in developing design concepts and project proposals.
• Generate bills of material and assist with project cost estimates.
• Support project scheduling, permitting, and coordination with contractors.
• Conduct site visits for measurements, project coordination, and installation support.
• Work with internal teams to ensure projects are delivered accurately and on time.
• Provide documentation and updates throughout the design and installation process.

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in AutoCAD (knowledge of 3D modeling software is a plus).
• Basic understanding of warehouse storage rack systems (pallet racks, shelving, mezzanines).
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with project teams.
• Willingness to travel up to 50%, with 30% same-day local and 20% overnight.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Preferred (but not required):

• Internship, co-op, or coursework related to warehouse design or material handling.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project).
• Knowledge of project coordination or construction documentation.

Education:

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Drafting, Design, Engineering Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
